More than 150 Participants attended the Opening Symposum for the New Turbomachinery Test Facilities at LUH
On June 10th, 2022, the Leibniz University of Hannover (LUH) sucessfully hold its opening symposium for the new turbomachinery test facilities at the newly built Campus for Mechanical Engineering at Garbsen. More than 150 participants of academic institutions as well as industrial partners and other visitors took the opportunity to get in contact with other members of the community and the Institute of Turbomachinery and Fluid-Dynamics.
Participants could discuss current topics in turbomachinery research/design during the presentations with the invited speakers and while visiting the new test rigs and laboratories.
After a very successful first Joint Conferences ETC15 with Euroturbo and EVI-GTI in Budapest in 2023, the two organisations have deciced to continue with a Joint Conference of ETC16 and The 11th International EVI-GTI Conference.
ETC Conferences consist of several parallel sessions over 5 days. The EVI-GTI Conference will appear in the Conference Program as a separate 3-days session in a dedicated room.
All presentations - Euroturbo or EVI-GTI - are open to all subscribers. An optional Gala Dinner (usually on Wednesdays) will be open to all subscribers for a fee.
What is your benefit from the Joint Conference?
- You can have up to 5 days of 2 high quality conferences for one trip and one fee.
- You will meet many more people (especially from academia but also from industry) than you would meet on a sole EVI-GTI Conference.
- You can decide between several sessions and pick the presentations that you like to attend.
- One single registration. Registration and billing will go through the ETC booking sytem.
Subscribe here and register for the Joint Euroturbo / EVI-GTI Conference.
Technical Presentations in PowerPoint or PDF can be submitted as an abstract and later as the full PPT presentation by uploading to the EVI-GTI file area (free registration required) . After the Conference, best EVI-GTI papers can again be published in the Special Edition of the International Journal of Turbomachinery, Propulsion and Power (IJTPP).
Timeline for Technical Presentations at EVI-GTI Conference
- Start of 'Call for Abstracts for Technical Presentations':
01 September 2024
- Deadline for submission of EVI-GTI presentation abstracts:
17 January 2025
- Deadline for submission of final EVI-GTI presentations:
20 February 2025
See our Newsletter from October 2024 for more details on scope and submission details.

In the EVI-GTI General Assembly Meeting (virtual) in December 2021, the EVI-GTI membership followed the suggestion of the Managing Board and voted for a closer collaboration with the Euroturbo. The details of the new collaboration of Euroturbo and EVI-GTI have been written down in a Memorandum of Understanding between Euroturbo and EVI-GTI.
EVI-GTI and Euroturbo have been associated already since 2019, after the Graz Conference, and have agreed at that time that EVI-GTI best papers can be published in a Special Edition of the IJTPP.

SAVE THE DATE: Opening Symposium for the New Turbomachinery Test Facilities at Leibniz University of Hannover on June 10th 2022
The new Campus for Mechanical Engineering at Leibniz Universität Hannover has been officially inaugurated in September 2019. The Institute of Turbomachinery and Fluid Dynamics is a major part of its new leading-edge research facilities. A completely new, highly flexible test infrastructure for the next generation of turbomachinery testing has been built over the last years. The operation of the first test rig has already taken place in 2020.
Unfortunatly, as so many other events as well, our symposium had to wait until the coronavirus pandemic will allow us to celebrate our opening.
It is my pleasure to invite you to our opening symposium on 10 June 2022. You will have the opportunity to visit the new laboratory and get an insight into our new test facilities. Our invited speakers will present and discuss current key topics in turbomachinery research, such as turbomachinery aero-acoustics, future challenges in the field of aeroelasticity, and the development of new numerical methods.
