The European Virtual Institute for Gas Turbine Instrumentation

March 28, 2025: The Joint ETC16 / 11th International EVI-GTI Conference has just been closed with a celebration. The conference was held from 24 to 28 March, 2025 in Hannover, Germany. The Local Organizer was the Institute of Turbomachinery and Fluid Dynamics of the Leibniz University of Hannover led by the Executive Director Prof. Dr. Joerg R. Seume, Ph.D.

The Conference was co-organized by EUROTURBO and EVI-GTI.

The EVI-GTI Conference sessions started a day later than the ETC and hosted 41 presentations over three and a half days. Already on the first day of the Conference in Hannover, we had up to some 90 attendees in the EVI-GTI sessions and we needed to first get more chairs into the room, until the room was full with chairs, while even more people arrived. And so we had to remove some tables rows and replace them with even more chairs. The attendance continued to be high over the following days despite other interesting sessions, company visits, lab tours and more.

According to the feedback from delegates, sponsors and officials from ETC and from the Local Organizer, the Conference was a great success, well organized and set new records. Some statistics that ETC Chairman Raul Vasquez Diaz presented:

  • 380 delegates had registered for the venue
  • Delegates came also from the US, Japan, China and Ukraine.
  • 52 sessions were held with more than 190 presentations from Eutoturbo and EVI-GTI.
  • 5 Invited Lectures were held
  • A Public Conference Night Session
  • Extensive Sponsor Exhibition & Networking Area with 13 Companies and boothes located around the Coffee and Lunch Area
  • Company Visits at MTU Maintenance and Aerzener Maschinenfabrik
  • 2 Workhops on Open Test Cases
  • Lab Tours hosted by the local institute
  • A Gala Dinner with The Best Paper Award and the Claus Sieverding Memorial Award Ceremonies

Any feedback on the Conference is welcome.

More details and photos will appear right after the coinference, here and on the ETC16 website. - Did you take a good photo at the Conference? This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

The Conference has been closed with a Closing Ceremony where also the venue of the next Confererence was anounced. The ECT17 will be held in Gdansk, Poland, currently planned for the 2nd week of April, 2023.

The EVI-GTI presentations will be made availabe on this website for download a few days after the conference, They will be available only for subscribed EVI-GTI Members who registered to the ETC16 Conference.

 Sincerely yours,

The EVI-GTI Board members

No full paper needed. But you can still decide to write a full paper after the Conference. Presentation will be held in a EVI-GTI session. Best Presentations at the EVI-GTI Conference will be invited to submit and publish a full paper with reduced article processing charge (APC) in a Special Issue of the renowned Jounal IJTPP (see e.g. https://www.mdpi.com/journal/ijtpp/special_issues/EVI-GTI_International_Gas_Turbine_Instrumentation_Conference). Call for EVI-GTI Presentations: 1 October 2026.

2.   ETC17: All submission will go through the ETC17 Review Process. Submit an Abstract to the ETC Review System, wait for acceptance, then submit the full Paper. Full Paper required. After successful review of your Paper, the Presentation will be held in a EVI-GTI session only if related to Testing & Maesurement, otherwise it will be held in a ETC session. After Budapest 2023, Hannover 2025, the Gdansk Conference in 2027 will be the 3rd Joint Conference of ETC and EVI-GTI.

In the EVI-GTI General Assembly Meeting (virtual) in December 2021, the EVI-GTI membership followed the suggestion of the Managing Board and voted for a closer collaboration with the Euroturbo. The details of the new collaboration of Euroturbo and EVI-GTI have just been written down in a Memorandum of Understanding between Euroturbo and EVI-GTI.

EVI-GTI and Euroturbo have been associated already since 2019, after the Graz Conference, and have agreed at that time that EVI-GTI Best Presentations can be published in a Special Issue of the IJTPP.

EVI-GTI and Euroturbo have been associated already since 2019, after the Graz Conference, and have agreed at that time that EVI-GTI best papers can be published in a Special Edition of the IJTPP.

The two organizations have now agreed on an even stronger collaboration including joint conferences, meaning that the well-received and renowned biannual European Turbomachine Conference (ETC) will be held as a Joint Conference. The ETC15 will take place in the beautiful city of Budapest, Hungary, from 24-28 April 2023.

ETC Conferences consist of several parallel sessions over 5 days. The EVI-GTI part of the ETC15 will appear in the Conference Program as a separate 3-days session in a dedicated auditorium.

All presentations - Euroturbo or EVI-GTI - are open to all subscribers. Fees will be available for all 5 days or day by day, so you can chose if you want to attend only at the EVI-GTI days (Tuesday - Thursday) or whatever choice you like.

A Gala Dinner (usually on Wednesdays) will be open for all subscribers.

What else will change for you?

- Registration and billing will go through the ETC booking sytem.

 - Submission of abstracts for presentations or papers:

Do you want to submit a technical presentation (PPT) in the EVI-GTI part?

 - If you want to present a PowerPoint or PDF in the EVI-GTI sessions, you can submit the abstract and the PPT during our Call for Presentatins (timeline will follow soon) as usual to the EVI-GTI File Area on our website. After the Conference, best EVI-GTI papers can again be published in the Special Edition of the IJTPP for a fee.

Do you want to submit a paper related to sensors and measurement?

- If you have a full paper prepared or aim for it, you have to submit it directly to the ETC abstract submission system. This will give you a chance to present it in the EVI-GTI session and to publish it in the IJTPP. If you follow this path, you have to obey the tight timeline. The Euroturbo Call for Paper Abstracts has just been published and will end on 22 June, 2022.
